According to legend, this rock formation represents the monks of the Lure mountain after having been petrified by Saint Donat. The monks fell in love with the beautiful young moorish women that a feudal lord brought back from one of the crusades. The rocks resemble a procession of hooded monks with their pointed cowls, filled with shame because of their unholy desires, if one believes the legend.
This image was created by combining 5 images together. The file which would be used for printing is 285MB resulting in astonishing sharpness and detail. Special prints at larger sizes can be arranged.
